Project Description:
This map depicts the Abkhaz-Adyghe Ethnic and Linguistic Groups in southwest Russia and Georgia as they were in the 1830's. The map is divided broadly into three groups - Adyghe, Ubykh, and Abkhaz Abaza. This map has been modified from it's original in the Koryakov Atlas of the Caucasian languages, and historical cities in this region have also been added. It should be noted that the populated places on this map are only places indicated in the Koryakov's maps and do not represent an exhaustive list of populated places for this region.
